Of Melted Crayons and Aggravated Mothers

Here's the crayon art I was telling you about! I did this with my cousins and siblings, and we had allot of fun and used all the crayons. You make them by hot gluing crayons to a canvas then using a hair dryer on hot to melt them.

This one is mine. I spray painted it black first, and I glued a cookie cutter on temporarily to get the bird shape.

Here's my cousins! Hers tuned out very well.

My brothers, very creative.

My sisters but she did this one on another day.

My sisters too!
But the downside to this whole thing is that my mom has banned crayons in our house... I have yet to figure out if she is serious or not. We kinda splattered crayon wax all over the table, chairs and floor. And then we had to scrub it off. Then today she found a crayon in the dryer that had melted all over her pillowcases... So remember to do this outside instead if you try it.

Of Pancakes, Flowers and Art Lessons

My little cousins are up at our house for a week! I have been entertaining them, and I am writing this in the precious moments I have while they watch Underdog.

We made pancakes by putting the batter in squeezy bottles and making shapes on the pan. Here is my face I made. I never quite got around to making a heart or a mushroom, so that's the plan for next time.

My name

My eye. I forgot to take a picture of the donkey we made, and the basketball hoop.

Photography

My aunt wanted me to teach my cousin to draw hands. I thought this would be a fun way to do it, and oh, how I love to draw on my hands.

Here's my students drawing

We are also doing the experiment where you put white flowers in food coloring. We are melting crayons later!

Of Chalk Pastels, Spray Paint and Photocopies

I broke out the chalk pastels... you need to be very daring to do this, considering what your room looks like afterwards. Chalk dust: EVERYWHERE. But the results are rewarding.

I drew this out of my head but I did use some magazines to get some ideas.

I painted a base coat and then laid a leaf across it. Spray paint, done.

This is me sticking my face on the photocopier. Then printing it. You should try it. It's fun.

Of Ribbed Shirts, Tie-dye and Cats

I had some old stretched out tee-shirts and ones that were too big. So I cut and sewed them up to fix them.

My sister modeling one of my ribbed shirts. You cut strips into the shirt then cut out every other strip. Very easy.

More artsy way of looking at it...

I had an over-sized tie-dye tee-shirt, so I sewed up the sides, sleeves and neckline to make it fit.
Here's my ribbed shirt.

Our neighbors cat. This picture was just too cute to pass up.

Of Preset Cell Phone Texts

So words can be art. My sister and I found a thing on our phone that has preset messages like 'the meeting was cancelled' or 'I love you' so you don't have to waste time typing it. (Ironically, it takes longer to pull up the preset messages and find one that fits than it takes to write it on a text...) But we found we could edit them, and having some time to kill, we changed them. I think they're really funny. I put the actual message in the front then the one we made up behind the hyphen.

Crazy 4 you- Crazy 4 you and that cookie u hav in ur hand... r u crazy enough to give it 2 me?

Of Plants on Macro, Unfinished Works, Black Dressers and Poetry Books

I love the new macro setting I found on 'my' camera... It takes these beautiful close-up pictures.

And clouds too...

This is me drawing cute animal cards

I am still working on this one. It's a drawing of Psalm 97.

This is me putting the camera at weird angles to morph the drawing.

This is me dressing up my mannequin
This is me drooling over my new dresser...

This is me trying to be subtle in showing you my gorgeous new poetry book that was on top of my beautiful dresser. I get too excited over old stuff.

Of Melted Crayons, Coke cans, Eyes and Eggs

I have been rather busy lately, so I haven't had much time to draw. Most of these are in my little sketch book I carry around in case I have an idea. So they're just sketches, not finished drawings.

This is, believe it or not, melted crayon. I hot glued a crayon one at a time to the canvas then used a hair dryer on hot to melt it! Repeat, repeat, repeat... and don't burn yourself on the glue gun like I did.

Side view!
A coke can I sketched while waiting for my turn at my piano teachers house.
I like these eyes, even though they're sketchy looking.

An amniotic egg I drew to help me study for a science test. I think he's cute...

A photo I took of a millipede. I hate how close up photos are always blurry in the front and crystal clear in the back. Oh well...
